Extended Learning Opportunities

Thanks to a five year grant from the Agency of Education, each of the four schools within the Caledonia Central Supervisory Union (CCSU) now offers fun and engaging programs each afternoon for students in grades K-8.  Our schools have now joined 120 schools throughout the State of Vermont that are addressing the needs of students and families for safe supervised activities following school dismissal.  The CCSU proposal was one of only two new programs funded this year and, like others, will promote physical activity, growth of the imagination, academic support, and excitement for learning.  Helping us are area organizations, including the Fairbanks Museum, Montshire Museum, St. Johnsbury Athenaeum, Catamount Arts, Northern Skies Observatory, University of Vermont Extension, and Lyndon State College.   The program is offered Monday through Friday, after regular school hours, with parent pick up at 5:30PM.  A five week, all day, summer program is scheduled to begin in July.
